Teenage robbery suspect, Ditiro Ngakane, was last Thursday remanded in custody at Moshupa Boys’ Prison for housebreaking and theft.
The 16-year-old Ngakane, notoriously known as ‘Jesus’ made news headlines recently when he, together with his alleged partners in crime, were paraded on national television following a spate of armed robberies.
Although his friends are said to have exonerated him from the robberies, Ngakane was back in police custody the following day after he allegedly broke into a house in Block 7.
The court heard that on the 9th of February at Block 7 in Gaborone Ngakane broke into a house belonging to Frederick Limenyo and stole a laptop worth P2000, white vest worth P130, laptop charger and 1 litre liqui fruit juice.
Ngakane is alleged to have committed the offence while on bail for another robbery that occurred in December last year.
State Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Galekhutle Mashumba, pleaded with the court to remand Ngakane as he was a menace to the public.
Mashumba also reminded the court that the accused had violated his bail conditions that were set in December last year.
The youthful Ngakane is said to be part of a gang of armed robbers who have been terrorising residents of Mmopane.
