The much publicised Gaborone International Music and Culture Week started today with a Capacity building workshop at Botswana National Youth Council(BNYC) hall.
Despite the hype that has been created in the build-up to its second installment, the international event appears to have had a lukewarm reception among local artists.
Only a handful of them turned up for the workshop today, much to the disappointment of the organisers.
Music promoter, Seabelo Modibe, complained that Botswana artists do not take themselves seriously and challenged them to enhance their personal development by taking up short courses and improve the quality of their work.
To further emphasise on the point of quality, Yarona Fm Programmes Manager Bonni Dintwa, told workshop attendants that his radio station was selective when it comes to content quality.
He said they only play quality music that has good sound quality, and mastering.
