Debswana Re Ba Bona Ha Coaches to be upskilled
The Botswana National Sport Commission and Project Concern International (PCI) Botswana will host a Capacity building workshop for 45 Debswana Re Ba Bona Ha Coaches on the 23rd Friday March 2018 in Gaborone from 08h00 – 17h00.
The workshop will be hosted through the Heroes Mentorship Programme which was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Sport and Culture Development.
The purpose of the workshop will be to train the coaches in the various areas such as, Basic Personal Financial Management, People Skills and Handling Media so as to give them the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about life in general and in mentoring the upcoming young athletes.
The Programme has already trained coaches from Centre of Sport Excellence and Hope World.
Of recent, a capacity building workshop was conducted for Elite athletes in the areas of Financial Management, People Skills and Personal Branding.
The Botswana Sport Heroes Mentorship Programme was launched in October 2015 at Molepolole.
This is initiative was introduced through the Botswana National Sport Commission in partnership with PCI Botswana.
The mentoring programme consists of two focuses; which are building emerging leaders in sport, and supporting them to mentor upcoming athletes.
The programme will include among others, activities to address relationship building skills, leadership and life skills, a management system for athlete service, which will involve writing and visiting injured players, monitoring of athlete performance off the sports field, personal interaction sessions.
It also help in building capacity for athletes as mentors and creating sustainable sport opportunities for practice, and career planning within sport; looking at how to turn professional and/or next steps in sport and life Members of the media and the public at large are invited to this event.
