From 29 October – 1 November, Africa’s Fashion Capital we were between the dancing lights of Johannesburg’s Melrose Arch, for Africa’s annual trans-seasonal sartorial show.

The culmination of four-day fashion extravaganza, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa (MBFWAfrica) 2014 the elegant event  celebrated phenomenal contributions to the fashion industry across eight categories.

And we are are glad we witnessed such an amazing show that celebrates Africa’s premier fashion talents first hand. With every fashion week we always look forward to seeing who will come out to shine best and who will be one to look out for in the coming seasons.

We all have our favourites but  and just as we suspected, Rich Mnisi (up coming designer)  came up to be the judges’s favourite as AFI Young Designer of the Year.

We jumped at the chance to feature his gorgeous work, after witnessing his work on the runway.

His capsule collection, OATH, most impressed the judges who were all the people we admire and look up and they too took and oath that OATH by Rich Mnisi deserves this particulate award.

The Judging panel included big fashion names like Bella Cebekhulu, Hanim Jane, Elihle Mnguni, Caileigh Davis & Ms Tarryn-ELLE magazine SA – at the final showcase for the AFI Fastrack designer incubation programme during MBFWAfrica 2014 on Saturday.

Sharing the runway with such a stellar line-up of African designers OATH emerged highest.

He was amongst the sartorial stars shining the brightest this year.

Rich Mnisi is one of Joburg’s most electric young design personalities. Offering both mens and women swear, his aesthetic instantly recognizable, sporty and fresh.

OATH is a somewhat a bridges the gap between conceptual, street wear and sportswear. And has the touch of fresh new ‘it’ sporty wear, this collection is few of the fiercest and funnest moments on the runways with models styled and accessorized to leave room for street style expressions.

For more on his great work and more of the MBFW2014 visit African Fashion International (AFI) – Official Page. Street wear has just had a whole new meaning- OATH.
