Majestic Five hotel, a 370-roomed multi million pula hotel has opened its doors in Palapye and is conveniently located along the A1 road.
The hotel which aims to cater for corporate people is also on an expansion plan that will see the opening of Palapye International Convention Centre which will have the capacity to accommodate 1000 delegates. “The convention centre is expected to be opened in March this year.
It is state of the art centre which we hope will attract the corporate world to host conferences and conventions here,’’ said the General Manager Wentzel Holtzhausen. In an exclusive interview with The Voice, Holtzhausen said that the hotel has created job opportunities for the locals. “Most of our employees are from Palapye and some who were working during construction have been employed permanently especially for maintenance.” Asked how they are going to support the locals, Holtzhausen said that they buy most of their fresh products from local farmers.
“The problem is that the supply is not consistent thus sometimes costing us, but we’ll continue supporting them.’’
The General Manager for revealed that even some materials they used for construction were sourced locally.
He said that they have appointed a guest relations manager, who is responsible for promoting local tourist sites. “The guest relations manager is familiar with the local area so he will help in promoting local sites,” he said. The General Manager mentioned that the hotel has the green environment policy which encourages the protection of the natural habitat and that it is also a member of the heritage environmental rating program.
