THIEF STABS COP
Thuso Gofetolwang of Ledumadumane Mogoditshane appeared before Broadhurst Magistrate facing three counts of assaulting a police officer, robbery and resisting arrest.
Court heard that on April, 26th, Gofetolwang and another one not before court near Total Filling Station in Broadhurst industrial stole from Tlhabologo Maimela a black Galaxy phone worth P2000.
The accused allegedly used violence during robbery. On the same day Gofetolwang committed another offence of resisting the lawful apprehension of himself for the offence of robbery.
On the third count, it is alleged he assaulted Special Constable Mamu by stabbing him with a knife on the right thumb while the cop was executing his duties.
Assistant Superintendent Mpho Sebako pleaded with court not to grant Gofetolwang bail as their investigations are at an early stage. He said the other accused is not yet arrested and they have not recovered the stolen phone.
Sebako also said their fear is that the accused might interfere with their investigations.
When asked if he has something to say Gofetolwang asked court to grant him bail as he has a two-year- old son that he was taking care of. He said he is a street vendor and being remanded would cause his business to suffer.
He was granted bail by Magistrate Monashe Ndlovu on condition that he pays P500 cash bail, appear before court on the set dates and not commit similar offences. His next mention was set for May16th.
