The 5th annual Yarona FM Music Awards are once again upon us and this year they will be held under the theme ‘Retro 5’.
The awards ceremony are set to be held in two weeks, and will be hosted by local radio sensation, Loungo Pitse also known as King Bee alongside popular South African socialite Bonang ‘Queen B’ Matheba.
The youthfull radio station recently came under fire when it was leaked to the media that they had invested huge sums of money in paying Mzanzi’s finest MC to host at the show.
“It’s a little bit surreal, I mean I’m hosting the YAMAs with Bonang Matheba! It’s Bonang so it’s a big deal. Everyone in my circle knows I look up to Ryan Seacrest and the Queen B. Ryan is an unstoppable force and I aspire to be more like him one day. Bonang’s work ethic is undeniably impeccable and it should be celebrated. She is a talented individual who carries so much life when she does her job,” Pitse said further adding in his jovial mood “King Bee and Queen B has a lovely ring to it, don’t you think.”
Asked what attendants should expect on the night Pitse said: “It’s going to be a magical night filled with great memories, top class production, world class hosts, and fire performances. It’s the biggest night in the music industry and you wouldn’t even want to miss it. Make sure to go buy your ticket and see you there.”
The event which is expected to be a night of glitz and glamour will be hosted at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on February 5.
Some of the budding local artists who are expected to emerge winners on the day include Han C, Ice Cold Mob as well as Bouncy.
The awarding ceremony will be kick started by a pre party headlined by South African mega star Casper Nyovest alongside local acts this weekend at the Molapo Piazza.
