Met departments donates to the needy
Department of Meteorology assistant director, Gase Ponoesele has called on the nation to heed to President Khama’s call of helping the less fortunate in whatever way possible.
Ponoesele said this at the Lephepe Kgotla last week where members of the Gaborone Meteorology Office HIV/AIDS and Wellness committee had gone to donate clothes, food and toiletry to needy people living with disabilities.
The beneficiaries of the weather people’s generosity were partially deaf widowed father of six, Kgaogano Siamisang and 88-year-old granny Loeto Segapo.
Segapo could not attend the ceremony because according to her grand daughter, Kebeane Moletse she is too frail to leave the yard.
“We are in support of the President’s pledge to help the less fortunate. Our hearts are full of joy as this is in line with one of the Vision 2016 pillars of a compassionate and loving nation,” said Ponoesele.
Another speaker at the occasion, Head of the Wellness committee Prissila Mbaiwa said the gesture was the beginning of good things to come for the Lephepe community and her department.
“Our newly built offices in this village will be opening next year and we trust we will work together to help the less fortunate. We are now part and parcel of this community,” she said.
