Lovers of water games are curiously waiting for the first ever Slip n’ Slide family fun day event to be held at Fairgrounds.
The event which will be held at the end of April will see up to 300 metre water slide being erected just to have a fulfilled day.
The idea behind this event is to convert a prominent location into a family fun water park using various water-related fun activities.
The Gaborone edition will also include 8 metre high water slides, Zorb balls, paddling boats, dunking tank, walk-on-water, foam party, rocket launchers, live music, food, drinks and a 5-minutes helicopter ride around the City of Gaborone.
This inaugural event will take place in Gaborone on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May, from 10am to 6pm daily.
Plans are already underway to have this splashy event in Francistown and Maun after the winter season.
“In fact, we are already receiving countless inquiries on our Facebook page to bring this event to Selibe Phikwe, Palapye and Jwaneng. Everyone should come dressed to impress in their beach wear because it’s not every day in Botswana one gets to get an opportunity to attend a water-themed event, because this country is very much deprived of water entertainment like other countries that have municipal swimming pools” said the event organiser, Troy Ferguson.
When asked about having such an event when this country has severe challenges of water scarcity, Ferguson said they will be purchasing around 20,000 litres of borehole water which will be used on the main attraction slide.
He stressed that because they are responsible organisers who are very much aware of the current global water crisis, there will be a very strict water conservation system which will be operated during this event.
“Because we, at slip ‘n slide summer streets, are all about satisfying the needs of our splashy followers, we are well aware that some people are very interested in attending this event, but to simply bring their families without necessarily participating in the activities. For this reason, we have developed a ridiculously reduced-price spectator ticket to meet such a need. With a ticket as little as P75.00 per person for each of the event’s two days, you too can now be a part of this splashy fun-filled and excitement event.”
