Fashion Without Boarders (FWB) Botswana is back, and judging by the hundreds of models who turned up for the auditions, it is surely back with a bang.
Instead of judges picking 40 local models to grace the FWB Botswana ramp with their catwalk on May 7, they increased the number by 10 as they were highly impressed by the models.
This then means that 10 international models will be dropped from the list.
This fashion show that will be held at the Three Chiefs Monument will be held under the theme: Trends of the decade, “ Celebrating 50 years of pride and unity through fashion”.
Fashion lovers who will attend the show will be treated to different fashion trends from the 60s up to date.
Works of 18 designers, eight of whom will be international designers from South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia and Nigeria will be showcased at the show.
“This figure might go up depending on the number of local designer who will turn up for casting on March 12,” said Co Founder and Director of FWB, Serge Kabisoso.
He also explained that this year FWB Botswana will bring more opportunities to its participants including workshops that will be held for both designers and the models.
For designers the four day workshop which is set to be held from May 2 to 5 at Molapo Stanbic Piazza will give the local designers a chance to interact with other established designers from other African countries who will show them how to turn fashion design into business and sell their works outside the country.
Models on the other hand will be taught how to turn their talent into business, teach them the lifestyle of models and build their confidence in posing and catwalk.
Since FWB Botswana is a corporate social investment the organisers have called on both government and private sponsors to come and be part of this event that grooms and helps shape the lives of designers and models.
