The President of the Republic of Botswana Ian Khama has named the recently completed Francistown Stadium, FRANCISTOWN SPORTS COMPLEX. Khama named the stadium this morning when he hosted team Botswana, which participated at the All Africa games, SAMOA commonwealth youth games and the Zebras. What is your take on the name?

  1. There are legends in my country that we could use their names to honor them and respect them forever. So Obvious names a a bora and doesn’t worth to be used. F/town and surrounding areas could have been given that opportunity to name it..Ke eng ne go sa twe Ditima something bogolo…..

  2. i think its tym we honor our heroes nt cities, thr ar a lot of profound men nd women from da gh2 nd around so such a stadium shud hv bn named afta em

  3. The name is too conservative, it would have been progressive to open up for suggestions from the broader public and vote for preferred name by sms. It’s not too late to do that.

  4. I,M REALLY SHOCKED & ASHAMED THAT ONE PERSON IS ALLOWED TO JUST NAME AN INSTITUTION THAT CONCERNS THE PUBLIC WITHOUT REQUESTING THE COMMUNITY LIVING IN THE VICINITY TO ADD THEIR VIEWS REGARDING THE NAME OF THE NEW STADIUM!!!!IT IS HIGH TIME FOR BATSWANA TO COME OUT OF THE COMFORT SHELL PUNCTUATED WITH FEAR & TIMID ATTITUDES THAT MATTERS THEIR LIVES.THIS IS AN INSULT TO THE CREATION OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD WHO MADE THE HUMANITY WITH THE LARGEST BRAIN TO THINK INDEPENDENTLY RATHER THAN RELYING ON THE OTHER HUMAN GODS TO DO PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF JUST NAMING THEIR SURROUNDINGS WITHOUT FEAR.THE BIG QUESTION IS WHY DO WE ALLOW ONE PERSON OR FAMILY TO TELL US THE BASICS OF LIFE?????

  5. I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE NAMED THE STADIUM AFTER SOMETHING TO DEAL WITH KALANGAS.JUST BCOZ THE STADIUM IS IN FRANCISTOWN IT DOESNT MEAN IT SHOULD BE NAMED AFTER THAT.WE ALREADY HAVE THE FRANCISTOWN STADIUM SO THE NAME IS NOT IT

  6. Go ne go batla e le leina la sekalaka. Re a itse gre se mo f.town ga go tlhoke gore re se bitse f.town sports complex..

  11. That is an insult to the dignity of the human person. In this time and age, we cannot cringe in fear any more under the oppressive thumb of those who choose to unilaterally make decisions for us! That magnificent masterpiece of architecture is situate on the soils of the city of Kalangaland. The Kalanga’s themselves are numerically superior to any other tribe in the vast expanse of our virtually unpopulated country. We have heroes both fallen and still in existence who are worthy to be honoured by naming that stadium after them. We have Patrick Balopi; Chapson Butale;Julian Nganunu; Glody Dube; Nigel Amos; Mbiganyi Thee; Tiyapo Maso, and a great many others. It is totally unacceptable to still have the names of colonialists being imposed on us. The only good the same colonialists in the mould of Francis himself did to the city was to mine its gold and fail to use it for the development of the township let alone improve the livelihoods of its populace. I totally object to that!
