The Botswana Telecommunications Cooperation has postponed the second annual Francistown beMobile Marathon to accommodate the country’s 50 years of independence celebrations.
In a press statement, BTCL Head of Sponsorship and Consumer Relations, Tiro Kganela said the event, which was originally billed for next month, will now be held in October instead.
“The race, which is used to raise funds for the BTCL Foundation, will now be held on Sunday October 16, instead of Sunday August 7th. BTCL has decided to postpone the event because of the upcoming euphoria about the Botswana 50th independence celebrations,” he explained.
On another note Kganela said they plan to make this year’s marathon bigger and better, with over 4000 participants expected to register for the race, some coming from as far away as Canada, Zimbabwe, Zambia Uganda and Kenya.
The Ghetto marathon has three races, the full marathon, the half marathon and a fun run.
