Ecco City Greens has parted ways with coach Maxwel ‘Malume’Moyo. His sacking comes a few days after his side’s shock 1-0 defeat by rookies Black Peril last Saturday and a slip to third position on the log.
Speaking to Voice Sport on Tuesday Moyo said he received a letter of notice from management, which also stated that his contract will not be renewed.
The tactician however did not sound surprised by the decision which he said was long time coming due to his soiled relationship with management.
“I have not been getting along with the Ecco management. The relationship hit an all-time low after they refused to extend Master Masiku and Nkosinathi Dube’s contracts. I made a recommendation that the two players were important in our campaign but the management decided otherwise. As the coach I should have been given powers to decide which players to keep or release. This recent spate of bad results should be blamed on the management. There are no resources to maintain a good run in the league,” cried Moyo.
The manager Robert Nkundi told Voice Sports that Moyo has been given a one month paid leave before adding that his contract will not be renewed.
The question on everyone’s lips is how can a coach be given leave in the middle of a season?
Moyo said he found it impossible to continue with the team due to the unprofessional way they do things.
“How can a coach be fired just because he lost to a bottom of the table team? Manchester United lost to Wolves last week but they did not fire Alex Ferguson,” charged Moyo.
Malume said he is available to offer his services to any team in the premier league.
