Mother and daughter murdered within two months.
Two separate passion killings within the space of a couple of months have left a mother and daughter dead and a family devastated.
23-year-old Boitumelo Kegopotswe was stabbed to death on the 10th of November last year – the main suspect in her murder is the boyfriend she had just dumped, Gabriel Tebatso Motsisi, 27.
Boitumelo’s death came less than two months after her mother, Kutsafalo Kegopotswe, 43, was killed, allegedly at the hands of her (Boitumelo’s) father, 59-year-old Gomotsegang Kgeresi.
On the 14th September 2017, Kgeresi is accused of strangling his wife to death with a red scarf, stuffing his underwear into Kutsafalo’s mouth to stop her desperate screams.
It is claimed Kgeresi excused his actions by saying Kutsafalo had denied him sex for two months.
Exactly 56 days after her mum was murdered, Boitumelo suffered an eerily similar fate.
The mother-of-three was brutally butchered with a knife at her home in Molepolole’s Magokotswane ward – her children are believed to have witnessed the entire incident.
Appearing before Molepolole Magistrates Court this week, Boitumelo’s suspected killer, Motsisi, a labourer at Ross Breeders, was remanded in custody.
On the day of the murder, court heard how the couple had earlier gone to the Police for assistance after Motsisi refused to accept that Boitumelo wanted to end their relationship.
Officers duly counselled the pair, advising them to part ways, which allegedly led to Motsisi leaving the police station in tears.
Later on in the evening, when Boitumelo returned home from her cleaning job at Scottish Livingstone Hospital, Motsisi is said to have killed her.
After that he allegedly tried to hang himself, only to cut the rope when the pain became too much.
The murder suspect will next appear for mention on February 12.
