1000 Desert race to move to Tsabong next year
The popular Toyota 1000 km Desert Race which is popularly known as Mantshwabisi will no longer be held in one place.
If things go according to the Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Tshekedi Khama’s wish, the race will have to alternate venues.
Addressing the media during the Botswana Travel and Tourism Expo which was held in Kasane last week, Khama said that it is important for the race to go to other places to cater for other spectators.
He said that having been held in Jwaneng for the past years after being moved from Mantshwabisi in Kweneng District, Khama said that the next host has to be a different village.
“I want to see this race in Tsabong next year then we move again to another place to cater for other people, it must not be in one place.”
He said that doing that it will be more challenging for drivers and also have a large following since it will be new in some areas.
