Colour and more colour

The 70s & 80s gig in picture
If you wanted to see grown ups take to the dance floor shamelessly and with vigour, you ought to be at the annual 70s & 80s disco. Colour everywhere – the outfits, the wigs, the nails, the dance floor stage and décor!
The 70s & 80s ambiance was not only captured in song as the various DJs played disco music from the era, the joy and fun in the hundreds of people that attended electrified the room.
This is one of the few parties, including the end of year Back2skul gig, where people make an effort to have

fun and get creative with the theme. Other than for a few party-poopers, sisters, mothers, wives and aunts rocked this gig in full gear, as they could be someone else without apologising for it – Madonnas, Donna Summers, Wacko-Jackos, Brenda Fassies, you name them, they were represented in style and I for one felt like another girl as I was totally taken by the disco balls.

Though I won’t be in this week, keep tuning into Duma FM for ‘Hot Trends with Mpho Laing,’ every Thursday 6pm-7pm and find out which interesting guest I have in studio.

Gal, gal, gal!

ASK THE FASHIONISTA

I recently heard you on radio, and am loving it! First I thought ‘Hot Trends with Mpho Laing’ would be about fashion, but you seem to talk about real life situations, and I liked the lady Lepang that you interviewed this past week, wow!
You mentioned the Africa Fashion week, do you know when Stoned Cherrie and David Tlale will be showcasing their collections? I want to checkout the fashion while my man does his soccer thing.
Dudu

Hey Dudu,
Oh ya, Lepang Ferguson rocks! And my radio talk show is targeted at the youth and what trends they follow today; arts, finance, education, film, the works.
The Africa Fashion week takes off at the Sandton Convention Centre this week on Wednesday 30th June at 3pm till Saturday 3rd July. Your boy David will showcase on that day at 21h30, while Stoned Cherrie will hit the catwalk on Friday 2nd July at 19h00. My favourite local girl and international designer Koketso Chiepe will be holding it up for Botswana on Thursday 1st July at 15h00.
Enjoy the shows. I definitely will be there too.
