The long running rivalry between Be Mobile Premiership debutants Green Lovers and BR Highlanders will be rekindled when the two clash at Serowe Stadium tomorrow evening.
Their bitter fight for boasting rights, at least in the Serowe/Mahalapye region has been off since BR Highlanders was promoted to the elite league two seasons ago.
Green Lovers coach, Onthusitse Kootswele, whose team announced their elite league arrival with a 3-2 win over Nico United only to crash 5-2 to Jwaneng Galaxy in their second game is confident his charges will get back to their winning ways against BR Highlanders.
“The loss was a shock to the boys as we last lost a competitive match way back in January. We lost to a better team who outclassed us in all departments. However it is good that it happened so early in the season. It made the boys appreciate that we have moved a gear up and we will need to work hard” Kootswele told Voice Sport.
The Green Lovers gaffer believes the solidarity amongst his players, most of who have been playing together since they were kids will carry them through.
“About 90% of them have come through our development programme and have overcome challenges together since our second division days,” said Kootswele.
His opposite number Tebogo Mokute said since the 5-0 humiliation by defending champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs in their league opener his cahrges have upped the tempo.
“The weekend 0-0 draw against Police XI motivated us,” he said.
The game kicks off at 1900hrs.
