ECHO LENS MAN ROBBED
Echo Newspaper photographer Koone Boikaego escaped unhurt last Saturday when gunmen put a gun to his head and made away with two cameras at a lodge in Mogoditshane.
The young photographer was from an assignment in Mochudi where he had gone to cover the Botswana National Front (BNF) Congress. From the trip he decided to retire at the lodge only to walk into a robbery in progress.
“I came at the wrong time I guess,” he told Shaya.
Boikaego said he was still traumatised by the images of having a gun to his head.
“That was a real gun and he had it on my head. I’m still traumatised and wish I could go away and spend weeks at the cattle post,” he said.
This could be the most shocking news Yours Truly have heard this year. The young lass in this story has been of recent been on this page quite too often and the subject of the matter has always been her love life. The sexy kwasa kwasa babe is allegedly committing adultery with another kwasa kwasa big head. The married former army man is reportedly so smitten with his new catch that divorce proceedings are on the way.
Musically the ex soldier has lost it! His past albums did not do well in the market and his music is no longer played in local radio stations.
The musician has been totally forgotten, he is not touring the country like he used to and young kids are long longer singing his songs on the streets. Could he be trying to resuscitate his plummeting career through his young lass, whose star is on the rise? Or perhaps Shaya is wrong the two are simply in love! Watch this space.
PHIKWE HELL RAISERS
A couple of celebrities who attended the Mascom Selebi Phikwe marathon are said to have left a lasting impression on the coal town dwellers. The who is who of Gaborone who were all geared for the event’s after party that featured some of the country’s big acts are said to have painted the town red.
A source from Phikwe told Yours truly that the guys had so much fun as they partied the night away.
“I never imagined these guys behaving like that. They were so drunk and, behaved like they owned the city, ” said Shaya’s disgusted source.
The source said some of the celebrities had so much to drink that they vomited.
“It got so worse that a fight nearly ensued between one of them and the local guy,” he said.
One of the people mentioned to have had too much fun is Gugu Mavuma rubbished the claims.
“As far as I know most of the people I travelled with were not having fun. One of my colleagues had to go back because the place was too deserted,” he said, adding, “I’m a grown man I do not drink and throw up. Who ever said that was telling you crap.”
Gugu said the weekend was his worst outing ever.
“Usually when I’m out I love to go around and meet people but this time I just hanged around same spots,” he said.
Well whatever it is somebody back in Phikwe was not happy with somebody’s presence.
Even before the excitement has gone from her face, Best upcoming artist category winner in the just ended President Holidays competition is being accused of stealing a song.
Not amused is Taj (Kenosi) from the group Shalawa.
“Somebody called me to inform that another artist has just won an award with my song,” he said.
Taj said they did the song when they were still working with producer Eric Ramco.
The song in dispute is called ‘Ke lapile’ and from what Taj said Ramco might have a hand in the mix up.
“I have been trying to call him and he has been avoiding my calls,” he said.
He said what makes it worse is that the new artist has not changed anything from the song.
Efforts to speak to Ramco hit a snag as his mobile rang unanswered. Tyte could not be reached for comment.
