Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) Limited Managing Director, Bashi Gaetsaloe, has commended businesses that invest in communities within which they operate.
Speaking at the extension launch of Kromberg & Schubert factory last week, Gaetsaloe said the gesture is a sure way to increase profits whilst giving back to the people.
These sentiments were uttered by Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) Limited Managing Director, Bashi Gaetsaloe at the Kromberg & Schubert factory extension launch held last week at the Gaborone West Industrial block.
Gaetsaloe stated that the arrival of Kromberg & Schubert in Botswana positively impacted on job creation and skills development as Batswana acquire specialized skills.
He said that the factory, which has women constituting 67% of its staff complement, shows great resolve in empowering the youth and women.
The BDC boss noted that every business venture is laden with challenges and added that his organisation, whose mandate is partly to support the development of viable businesses that pioneer new industries, exists to assist them.
For his part, Trade and Industry Minister, Vincent Seretse, said the country’s private and public sectors must be able to engage in trade, offer high-quality products and services as well as gain market share locally, regionally and internationally if Botswana is to be competitive in the world economy.
“We want this country to transform from being predominantly an importing and consuming country to being a manufacturing and exporting country,” he said.
