Botswana Tourism Board (BTO) CEO, Thabo Dithebe, and the permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism, Elias Magosi, were today summoned before the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Body led by Samson Guma Moyo.

The summons came about after emerged that the Minister Of Wildlife and Tourism Tshekedi Khama, in consultation with the Acting Chair of Botswana Tourism Board without the engagement of the Permanent Secretary conspired and cut short the BTO CEO’s notice.

Minister Khama was said to be out of the country despite being summoned by the committee to account for alleged ‘dubious’ dealings regarding the inappropriate appointment of some officers and salary restructuring at the organisation.

‘The Minister has no legal authority to make decisions in the absence of the board,’ said Attorney general representative.
