Mazganda.Com leader Ras T. believes the group has what it takes to win at this President’s Art Competition in the live band category at Tsholofelo Park, Gaborone.
The group which has kept the musical fire burning in Francistown through their catch brand of folk music will be appearing at the final for the second time.
They last appeared in 2013 when they came out second best.
Ras T. Is confident the experience from the last completion will do them good as they fight for the P25 000.00 first prize.
“We learnt a lot when we last played at the finals. It helped us work on our mistakes and shorting comings which has helped us come up with better music and stage work. I trust the experience will help us do better than we did in 2013” the dreadlocked singer and guitar player said.
Ras T. Also trusts their new act dubbed Bo Magogo and music will help the group beat competition.
“I believe our music is powerful enough. We also have a new stage act. We appear on stage as old women which is a bit different. Most acts use the old men gimmick which has become a bit monotonous and boring. We also play our folk music with a full band and this improves it as it is usually played by one person on a four string guitar” he intimated to Voice entertainment.
Ras T. Is however worried that the group may be done in by the judgement which he says is sometimes suspect.
“We are a bit concerned about the judgement because at time it has proved a bit dodgy. In the past many artists and revellers were left wondering why some acts won. We just hope that this time things will be better and deserving acts will win” Ras T. said.
