BOTSWANA Football Association (BFA) offi cially received a double storey building donation comprising of fi rst class camping facilities.
The building has been funded by FIFA to the tune of $400 000 including payment of the contractor, TAMLAC. The building will be under the care of the contractor for the next six months.
When offi ciating at the handing over, FIFA Development Officer, Ashford Mamelodi said there was a possibility that FIFA President Sepp Blatter may come to Botswana for the inauguration of both the building and the FIFA turf in Molepolole.
Mamelodi also thanked the contractors and consultants for the good job they have done. The two, he said, had had a great input in the first goal project of the Botswana Football Association.
“The BFA is now in a position to apply for goal project three and I have to point out that as FIFA we need the venues to now spread around the country.
Goal project was specifically designed to assist member associations. I want to remind BFA that another project goal football can be applied for to put more life into football. That can be used to develop young referees and have an academy of talent.
There are countries that are already looking at goal four and five,” Mamelodi said.
When offi cially receiving the facility BFA President, David Fani said they fi rst benefited from such assistance back in 2003. He said the first of its kind constituted what is now called ‘Lekidi’ the home of football.
“We are happy to receive yet another project. From FIFA.
During the fi rst one it was dollar for dollar. This time around FIFA has done it alone and it will be amiss not to thank them and show appreciation,” Fani said.
