Bail hearing for suspects in the recent brutal murder of Bonolo Radibe near Molapo Crossing was yesterday postponed as the presiding Magistrate, Goodwill Makofi, was away attending the official opening of Broadhurst Magistrate Cout.
The two suspects, Godfrey Matambo (29) and Elias Tandi (27) were nabbed recently following the death of Radibe, a son to prominent trade unionist and former Botswana Teachers’ Union (BTU) President, Jafta Radibe.
The young Radibe who was a Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) student, was stabbed to death near Molapo Crossing on the 17th of January after his assailants robbed him of his cellphone, a Samsung Galaxy model worth P2, 500.
Matambo was allegedly found in possession of the deceased’s stolen phone.
Previously in his defence he claimed he brought the phone on the black market from one of his co-accused Tandi and that he had nothing to do with the murder.
Tandi also claimed he had bought the phone from someone else.
The prosecution said Tandi, a bus conductor for PCJ Transport Services, was an illegal immigrant who did not have any travel documents.
The court is expected to set another date for arguments of bail application.
