In a shocking incident, a six months old baby tragically drowned in a bucket at Gaborone’s Ledumang location.
Details of the incident are that the baby had been left in the care of his 28-year-old caretaker at the family’s rented room.
The caretaker, according to the police, had left a bucket full of bathing water in the room that the baby was sleeping when she went out to dry her underwear.
It is alleged that when the toddler woke up, he rolled over on the bed and fell into the bucket.
Officer Commanding for No.3 District, Bonny Bareki, confirmed the incident and revealed that it was reported last Wednesday.
“It is a death incident and investigations on what could have led to the toddler’s death are still ongoing,” Bareki said and added that the child’s body was certified dead upon arrival at Princess Marina Hospital.
