Al Merreikh FC Coach, Mahomed Abdalla, believes his charges are capable of reversing the 3-0 drubbing they suffered yesterday when they host Township Rollers in Sudan in the second leg of the CAF Championships League next week.
The visitors coach who took over the reigns at Al Merreikh three weeks ago said his charges have not had much match practice as they have just resumed their league.
Popa scored their first goal through Mosha Gaolaolwe’s header after connecting from Edwin Moalosi’s free kick on the 27th minute.
Moalosi extend the Rollers lead just before half time.
In the second half the visitors showed more determination surging forward but they failed to penetrate an equally formidable Rollers defense.
Rollers’ forward livewire, Segolame Boy, further added to the visitors’ woes in the 70th minutewhen he scored the third goal after coming in as a substitute.
Speaking after the game, Abdalla said Rollers punished them for their reckless defensive blunders.
He was however optimistic that his boys will work on their mistakes when they get home and that they will overturn the deficit when they host Mapalastina next weekend.
“I blame my defence for the first two goals that Rollers scored. Technically our opponents were good. They dominated on counter attacks, played well and deserved a win. Losing always puts players under pressure, so we will go and work hard. Not all my players were here and I believe those who are left home will make a difference next week,” said Abdalla
For his part, Rollers Coach- Nikola Kavazovic said he was happy with the result even though it doesn’t guarrantee anything.
He said their opponents have a big following back home which can intimidate them in the next game.
