The General Manager for Air Botswana, Sakhile Nyoni Reiling has resigned from the national airline.
Reiling confirmed her resignation citing personal reasons for her departure.
However according to sources she has been head-hunted by IATA to take up a very senior position based in Johannesburg
Her departure is a major blow for Air Botswana as it comes at a time when the airline is on an aggressive recovery strategic plan.
Under her leadership, the airline passed the exacting IOSA audit, and was readmitted into IATA as a full member. This was achieved after the airline had failed the audit since 2007.
She also succeeded in re-fleeting the airline so that it has more aircrafts to fly and is currently achieving over 80% of its flights on time as prescribed by international standards.
Air Botswana has also continued to recover financially by reducing its net losses which had been accumulated over many years.
Reiling is regarded as an expert in the aviation industry and has many technical qualifications, including that of a pilot as well as a qualified IOSA auditor.
